Coconut coir utilization as a catalyst precursor in the transesterification process of used cooking oil into cocodiesel

Abstract This study aims to make a catalyst from biomass waste in the form of coconut coir and apply it transesterification process cocodiesel. The raw material for cocodiesel this was coconut-based cooking oil that also could pollute environment. research method includes analysis, catalyst’s preparation, characterization with Brunauer-Emmet-Teller (BET), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis. next step application reaction. results showed interesting information, which addition calcination increased surface area crystallinity ratio. Applying converting used gave 48.5% 51% yields densities close biodiesel standard.
